New Mexico is easy to travel with several airports, numerous rental car places and perfect road infrastructure.
I-40 is the main Interstate into New Mexico from East to West.
I-25 runs from North to South.
New Mexico roads are well maintained and quickly cleared after snowstorms. To check road conditions, call the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department at 800-432-4269.
Ski Apache New Mexico
Ski Apache is 2 1/2 hours drive from Albuquerque and 2 hours drive from El Paso.
Albuquerque International Sunport Airport and El Paso International Airport are served by America West, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Northwest, Southwest. All major car rental companies are represented at the airports.
Aerolitoral and Azteca Airlines from Mexico fly into El Paso.
Ruidoso/Sierra Blanca Regional Airport: Private planes. Enterprise car rental.
Shuttle Service from El Paso is Shuttle Ruidoso New Mexico 877-903-7483. Also connects with Alamo Shuttle 800-872-2701 in Alamogordo New Mexico.

Be prepared and be safe. Be sure to have four-wheel drive or snow chains.
During heavy snowstorms, chains are required on two-wheel drive vehicles.
Ski Apache Ski Run Road is a paved, all-weather state road that receives priority maintenance during snow storms. Road crews plow and sand the road 24 hours a day during winter weather. But in case of a heavy snow storm you defenitely need 4-wheel drive or snow chains.

Prepare for
New Mexico Mountains
Ski Apache Ruidoso New Mexico ski area is in the southern Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 12,000 feet. Take your time to adjust to the altitude. Rest if you are tired, drink extra water and bring those anti-sickness travel drugs. Those are great in case you feel dizzy.
With blue skies and lots of sunshine make sure you have bottles of sunscreen with you.

New Mexico is great for skiing and snowboarding. Night temperature is around 30F, day temperature is 50F to 65F.Dress yourself in layers because temperatures differ at different elevations.
Snow is powder perfect due to the low humidity.

A terrain park for adventure seeking skiers and snowboard riders is at Ski Apache! Kiddie Korral is a special ski instruction program for 4, 5 and 6 year-olds. High elevations provide abundant snowfall, yet winter temperatures are mild with lots of sunshine.

Ski season in New Mexico usually runs from Thanksgiving to Easter.
Thanksgiving weekend is always fun with low ticket prices for the ski lifts. December is the busiest month. January and February are normally the snowiest months of the season. So March is perfect for Spring Break ski fun with great snow conditions.
